On Saturday September 6, 102 club members descended on Rawnsley Park Station for the clubs Spring Camp in the magnificent Flinders Ranges. After registering, members gathered for Happy Hour, the Camp Briefing and a chicken and salads meal around the camp fire.
This was the club’s first visit to Rawnsley Park since October 1999 and several of the members on that trip were present again.
After good winter rains and lovely spring sunshine the country looked a picture and many old hands said they had never seen it so green.
Each day all four grades of walks were organised and on some days there were 2 B or C groups due to the large numbers. Walks varied from the Challenges of climbing St Marys Peak and Rawnsley Bluff to gentle strolls around Hawker (and visiting coffee shops). All grades had at least two walks which included walking through Wilpena Pound.
There were quite a few new members who were on their first camp and all claimed to be most impressed with the organisation as well as having the opportunity to make new friends.
