The Bushwalkers run over twenty graded local walks every month.  All walkers carry lunch, drinks, snacks, necessary clothing, first aid kits and an Emergency Medical Information Booklet (EMIB).

• A walks may include very rough terrain and steep gradients. Duration of walks – 5 to 6 hours, including lunch and other breaks. Distance – up to 25 Km
• B walks may include steep gradients. Duration of walks – 4 to 5 hours, including lunch and other breaks. Distance – 12 to 17 Km.
• C walks may include moderate gradients. Duration of walks – 3 to 4 hours, including lunch and other breaks. Distance – 7 to 12 Km.
• D walks are easy walking which may have slight gradients. Walks are planned around the use of public transport. Duration of walks – 2 to 3 hours, including lunch and other breaks. Distance – 5 to 7 Km.
• Early Morning Walks – During the hotter months, additional B and C grade walks are planned in addition to the regular program.  B grade walks start at 7.00 am with a duration of 2 to 3 hours.  C grade walks start at 7.30 am with a duration of 2 to 2½ hours. The walks take place regardless of the forecast temperature (see our hot weather policy below) and will be adapted to weather conditions. Walks are cancelled if there is a Total Fire Ban in the area of the proposed walk.

The walk calendar contains information about upcoming walks. All walks start promptly at the published start time, please arrive 15 minutes early. Where public transport is used the published time is the departure time of the bus, train or tram.

Visitors are always welcome. You can come on two walks as a visitor to find out what a friendly bunch we are and try the different grades.  Please start with a C or D walk and contact a walk coordinator.  If you would like to keep walking with us, becoming a member is easy: see our membership page.

Please help to stop the spread of the fungal disease, Phytophthora, which can be spread by bushwalkers. Phytophthera can kill native and introduced plants.  Always disinfect your boots after walking in bushland or National Parks.

Check the forecast on the 7 pm ABC radio or television news on the night prior to the walk.  Walks are cancelled if:

• a fire ban is declared for the walk area, or
• the temperature forecast for Adelaide is at or above the cut-off temperature. This is normally 32° C, but leaders can publish a lower cut-off temperature. Please check the walk list.
