In July/August 2008, the club had a very successful trip to the 223km heritage Larapinta Trail, west of Alice Springs.

Thirty seven walkers began at Mt Sonder and travelled east to the historic Overland Telegraph Station over a period of 12 days and 2 rest days. Walks ranged from easy to challenging.

A handful of walkers completed the entire trail as day walks with a few long walking days of 32kms and the help of a very obliging bus/4-wheel, driver/cook.

The scenery was magnificent. The gorges were cool delights and the weather was fine although hot at times.
