RASA Website User Verification – Defect Process

What is a defect?

A “defect” is anything you believe needs fixing, changing, or improving, within the website. Typically, these could be things such as the following (though this is not an extensive list):

  • Very slow or “broken” performance (eg system stops working, or the screen freezes, or a system error message appears)
  • Functions not performing as expected
  • Links from pages that do not go where expected
  • Text that has incorrect wording, spelling errors, or grammatical errors
  • Screen navigation that is complex or confusing, or hard to navigate.

Steps for raising a defect with the WSG

  • All defects are to be raised to the WSG by e-mail
  • The e-mail address for the raising of any defect is webmaster.rasabushwalkers+UAT@gmail.com.
DO NOT send e-mails to any individual within the WSG.
  • Title your e-mail “Website Defect”
  • In the body of the e-mail, provide the following:
    • The page or function you were verifying
    • The details of the issue(s), including what you were doing at the time
    • Provide screen prints, If practical
    • What device and browser you were on at the time (see below for more details on this).
    • Whether you were logged in at the time (ie in the Members area)
    • If your defect is to do with confusing/complex screen navigation, let us know how you think it can be improved.

You can include just one issue in an e-mail, or multiple (if multiple, please clearly separate them out). However, please raise them to the WSG as soon as able after they’re found, so they can be addressed early on.

What happens after I send a defect to the WSG?

The WSG will assess and manage the issues you raise. We may get back to you for more information if needed.

We will let you know what action is taken on the issue you raise. The action taken will depend on the actual issue. For some, software changes will be made. However, for others, we may note it as a procedural issue. And for others, we may take no action at all.

For defects that require software changes, we will let you know when the defect is fixed, and ask that you then retest it.

How to provide device information

When you e-mail an issue to us, please let us know if you were on a desktop/laptop computer at the time, a tablet (eg iPad), or a smartphone.

If you were on a desktop or laptop, please also let us know what browser you were using – this would typically be something like Chrome, or Microsoft Edge, or Firefox, etc

If you were on a tablet or smartphone, just let us know the product name. You can fnd that in your Settings, under About. Will be typically something like Samsung A25, or iPad.

Don’t worry if not sure about providing this information – we’ll get back to you if need be.
